From Broken to Beautiful: Antique Dresser Restoration

This antique dresser was brought to me by a client in extremely poor condition and required far more than a cosmetic update. The drawers were badly damaged and barely holding together with tape, making a full structural rebuild necessary before any refinishing could begin. Several drawer boxes had to be reconstructed to restore proper function and stability.

The Restoration Process

The original veneer on the top was also failing and could not be salvaged. To preserve the integrity of the piece, the damaged veneer was completely removed and replaced before moving forward with the finish. Addressing these structural issues first ensured the dresser was solid, functional, and built to last.

Once the foundation was restored, the dresser was refinished in a rich, moody blue that enhances its classic curves while giving it a refined, updated presence. Warm brass hardware and thoughtful styling completed the transformation, allowing the piece to retain its vintage character while fitting seamlessly into a modern, lived-in home.
